Phi Kappa Sigma Hires Executive Director

  • Phi Kappa Sigma announces the hiring of new Executive Director, Timothy A. Schug, Alpha Epsilon (Illinois Institute of Technology) ’07.

Chester Springs, PA, July 1, 2015 – The Phi Kappa Sigma International Fraternity is proud to announce that it has hired its new Executive Director, Timothy Schug, to lead its Headquarters Staff. Over the last three years, Tim previously served as Director of Chapter Operations, Director of Chapter Services, and Deputy Executive Director while also filling in as Interim Executive Director as needed. In these roles, he has been lead on many of the initiatives taken by the Fraternity during this time.

As Brother Schug nears his 10 year anniversary of joining Phi Kappa Sigma through the Alpha Epsilon Chapter, he brings with him a wealth of fraternal knowledge, operational expertise and innovation to the International Headquarters. Prior to working for the Fraternity, Tim spent five years working for Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in various academic and student services positions. In these roles, he focused on improving the quality of service to students, alumni, faculty and staff by streamlining processes and enhancing communication approaches.

Tim earned his bachelor of science in civil engineering with a concentration in construction and engineering management and pursued a graduate degree in secondary education. After working on a technical services team, he changed his focus and earned a graduate certificate in data management and analytics, and a master of information technology and management with a focus on management information systems. Currently, Tim is pursuing a master of arts in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University.

International Fraternity Board President Douglas Opicka, Alpha Epsilon (Illinois Institute of Technology) ’97, who led the search noted, “Brother Schug has proven time and time again that he has what it takes to lead the International Fraternity Staff. In the past five months, Tim has served as Interim Executive Director and kept the ship sailing during the transition. We are excited to see what the future holds for our Fraternity.”

Director of Member Services, Ron Stranix, Delta Rho (Ursinus College) ’12 commented, “On behalf of the HQ Staff, we could think of no one better for the position. Tim is a great leader and we are excited to continue working with him as Executive Director.”

In his humble nature, new Executive Director Tim Schug said, “While I am truly honored to be selected as our next Executive Director, today is no different than yesterday. I will continue my primary focus of using my energy to elevate our organization so that members cherish their lifelong commitment. There is always a way for us to renew our appreciation for the beauty of Phi Kappa Sigma and its lessons.”
